Triton Transit

Triton Transit operates fare-free on- and off-campus service, including four primary service lines:

  • Shuttles – Fixed-route service between campus shuttle stops
  • Mobility – Door-to-door service for individuals with limited mobility
  • On Demand – On-Demand service between existing Triton Transit stops during evening hours and academic breaks when fixed route service is reduced or suspended
  • Charters – Support for campus events, academic and student organization field trips and athletic travel

We operate electric carts, vans, small shuttle buses and full-sized transit buses fueled by renewable biogas (RNG).

Triton Mobility App

Beginning March 24, 2024, eligible riders can use the new Triton Mobility reservation system to make trip requests and reservations in two ways:

  • Online using the Triton Mobility web app
  • With the Triton Mobility app | receive important trip notifications on your smartphone or mobile device

Stay Informed about Important Service Information

Receive texts about detours, delays and service changes by subscribing to Transit Alerts through the university’s Everbridge platform. Text “ucsdtransit” to 888777. Enrollment is opt-in only and users will need to confirm their subscription at the end of each month. All message and data rates may apply.

Triton Transit Shuttles

HC – Health Campus Connector

  • Connects the UC San Diego Health La Jolla Blue Line Trolley station with the La Jolla Medical Center
  • View Stops and Timetables

R – Regents Express

  • Connects East Campus commuter parking (P703, P704, P705), UC San Diego Health – La Jolla, to the UC San Diego Central Campus Station
  • View Stops and Timetables

SIO – Scripps Institution of Oceanography Shuttle

  • Connects the Scripps Institution of Oceanography, Birch Aquarium and the beach at Scripps Seaside Forum to the central campus

IL – Inside Loop

  • Circles the Central Campus in a clockwise direction, including connections to regional bus service at the Gilman Transit Center and the UC San Diego Blue Line Trolley at the Central Campus Station

OL – Outside Loop

  • Circles the Central Campus in a counterclockwise direction, including connections to regional bus service at the Gilman Transit Center and the UC San Diego Blue Line Trolley at the Central Campus Station

MS – Mesa South Shuttle

GC – Grocery Shuttle - Clairemont/Convoy

  • Connects the Central Campus and Mesa residential community to the Clairemont/Convoy shopping area
  • Connections to central campus residence halls available via the Outside Loop Shuttle

Triton Mobility

If you are a student, staff or faculty member with a disability, Triton Mobility can help you travel between ADA-compliant locations on the La Jolla campus via a wheelchair-accessible van or cart.

Triton Transit On-Demand

Triton Transit On-Demand transports passengers between Triton Transit shuttle stops on the La Jolla campus when fixed-route service isn’t running. Request rides through the TransLoc app.

Spring Break March 24–28: Operates weekdays until midnight

Triton Transit On-Demand coordinates closely with the UC San Diego Police Community Service Officer program, (858) 534-9255, which can provide walking safety escorts on campus between sunset and sunrise.
